Care Pilot

Turning Patient Services on Its Ear

Background

What if you could comparison-shop for healthcare services the way you shop for airfares? The founder of CarePilot, a consumer-focused healthcare technology company, came to Spire Digital with precisely that ground-breaking and highly disruptive business idea. Employing a lean product strategy and user experience design, Spire turned the idea into a reality, developing the web application within six months.

Goal

CarePilot recognized an unmet need in the healthcare marketplace. They wanted to connect patients to healthcare professionals providing services ranging from cardiology to massage therapy and everything in between, while also improving patient user experience and healthcare outcomes. What they needed was a custom online solution that could give patients the ability to search for and schedule health services, as well as track, organize and bill healthcare-related costs. CarePilot also needed it quickly in order to attract important industry and investor attention.

Approach

From the start, Spire led a lean digital product development process, which included strategic UX planning, interaction design and systems architecture. Given that time-to-launch was critical for gaining market share and investor attention, the Spire development team put the focus toward understanding the most important user decision points within the minimally viable product and pushed it to development. As well, Spire’s system architects leveraged an open-source MVC framework for rapid deployment and transparency.

Solution

The culmination of these efforts was the CarePilot launch of a competitive healthcare procedure digital marketplace. CarePilot is a complex e-commerce site with influx products that not only serve patients looking for services, but the healthcare providers who offer the services. Now users across the country are benefitting from the out-of-the-box thinking that resulted in a free and open online healthcare hub.
