Archstone

Many Products, One Vision

Background

Archstone Apartments, bought by Equity Residential and AvalonBay, is a pioneer in using technology to deliver better service to their residents and better tools for their employees. Spire Digital partnered with Archstone to extend their vision of a simpler user experience across their entire portfolio of web and mobile-based products. Spire delivered a complete consulting services engagement—from product strategy and ideation, to user research and information architecture, to content strategy and development.

Goal

Archstone manages 30,000 high-end apartment units throughout the country and strives to be the most forward-thinking apartment rental company in the world. They understood technology was the key to increase revenue and create operational efficiencies across their national footprint. With this in mind, Archstone sought a partner who could help them imagine, research, develop and update the digital tools most needed to engage more effectively with residents and enhance sales.

Approach

Spire guided Archstone through a user-centered design process, which included conversations with stakeholders such as leasing agents and the national sales team, as well as apartment lessees. Equipped with knowledge, Spire’s product owners, user experience designers and full stack development team worked seamlessly with Archstone’s product development and technology teams in two-week sprints, enabling Archstone to successfully ship numerous digital products across many technologies.

Solution

Over the course of 24 months, Spire and Archstone rolled out several innovative solutions, from an internal CRM tool to a responsive web application for an apartment rental kiosk—all of which helped to propel Archstone’s top-line revenue. With the focus on the end user, residents and employees alike are now able to more easily and efficiently manage everyday needs and tasks via Archstone’s web and mobile-based tools.
